Preschool Teacher – Parent Education Facilitator
Pay Range: $15.75/hr -- $19.20/hr
Who We Are
Kent-Meridian Co-op Preschool is a non-profit, parent-run preschool that has been serving families in and around Kent, WA for decades. KM Co-op is a preschool with a strong commitment to play-based learning and instruction and supporting parents as well as children through the critical developmental years of early childhood. Parents support the early learning of their students by working in the classroom and supporting the classroom teachers.
Who We Need
We are looking for qualified individuals to help prepare our early learners for kindergarten as Preschool Teachers and to help guide member parents through the tricky stages of early childhood as Parent Education Facilitators. Qualified individuals may serve as both roles.
A KM Co-op Preschool Teacher/Parent Education Facilitator must have a great love of and patience for children. An appreciation for and commitment to play-based early childhood learning is a must. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include a knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage with students and earn their trust and attention.
Parent Education Facilitators must be able to meet student parents where they are in their parenthood journey, to provide an effective and engaging parent curriculum and to address concerns parents have helping their students grow.
What You’ll Do

Working with the other teachers/parent education facilitators, develop a thoughtful and creative play-based program for preschool-age children and an engaging and informative program for their parents

Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, crafts, etc.) to help prepare young children for kindergarten

Observe students and work with their parents to improve social competencies and build self-esteem

Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve their conflicts

Guide parents working the classroom through their responsibilities and model appropriate adult/student interactions in the classroom

Communicate with parents regularly to understand students’ backgrounds
What We’re Looking For

Experience working in a preschool classroom

Experience working with a play-based early childhood curriculum

Familiarity with early-childhood teaching techniques

Excellent communication and instruction skills with children and/or adults

Certification in adult and child CPR

BSc/BA in education or relevant field a plus

Experience in education
